South Australia implements migration changes

Print E-mail

A number of changes to the South Australian immigration policy are now underway.

As of 5pm Adelaide local time, the Concessional English provision has been temporarily suspended. The scheme has assisted in large numbers of work visa grants from South Australia in order to compensate for skills shortages, and has added significantly to the number of skilled visa applications which have led the South Australian State to conduct an internal review of the programme.

Further changes have also been implemented with regard to the sponsorship / occupations list. However, as the State Government cannot advise which occupations have been added or removed from the list, it has advised to submit applications once they are decision ready in order to avoid any disappointment.

Processing times for permanent sponsorships will be completed within four weeks, and provisional sponsorships will be completed within six to eight weeks. These processing times have taken into account the influx of applications due to the Concessional English provision.
