Me and my fiance' are very keen to move to America, within the next few years. We dont know how to go about it. He owns his own car valeting buisness and i'm a beautician. We're both 20. What would be our chances of being accepted for a visa?? Thankyou.
My son's father is emigrating to Australia and he says that my son needs to have a medical examination. My son will not be going with him and is only 9 years old. I just want to know if this is correct? and why?
My husband, myself & our 2 children emigrated to Canada in the 70s and became Canadian citizens in 1980. Unfortunately we had to return to England in 1982, due to family reasons. My daughter would now like to return to Canada, with her husband and 3 children, all UK citizens. How would she go about this? My husband & myself are also thinking about returning there, we are now aged 64 & 60, both retired and this year we will start receiving our Canada pension, from the years we worked there. We are both on medication for blood pressure, also my husband for gout. He also has yearly checkups for skin cancer (he had a malignant melanoma removed in 1994). Our son, who is single age 38 would also like to return to Canada. He has recently been diagnosed with schitzophrenia and is on medication, not working at the moment. Would any of us have any trouble returning to Canada? Would welcome your advice.
My partner and i are British Citizens and are desperate to emigrate to Australia after being there for 12 mths on a working holiday visa. We have tried various online assesments and understand that we currently do not fit the criteria for a skilled visa (or any other). We have been travelling on and off for approx 3yrs which means we havent been in continuous employment for that length of time. Our situation at present is.. We have been together for 7 years but are not married. My partner is booked onto a full time electrician course this Sept ( after we return from 9 mths travel in South America). I worked as a sales consultant for 12mths for a chemicals sales company, proir to leaving for South America. Hopefully i will be abe to work for the same company again when i return to the UK. We would really like to know what are options are at this stage, as we are becoming worried that Australia is never giong to be an option for us. Many thanks in advance for your reply.

A friend of mine lives in the UK. A couple of years ago she holidayed to Australia and fell preganant to an Australian. She had the baby in UK and has been there ever since. She is now currently completing her teacher's degree and was under the impression that when she finished the course in June she would be able to legally migrate to Australia and become an Australian citizen so her daughter can be near her father. She was recently advised that she has to work in the UK as a teacher or 2 years before she can acutally migrate which has really upset her and put all her plans on hold. She has already booked her one way ticket etc but doesn't have much info on the situation. Could you please help me???

Australia does not have any financial requirements for skilled migrants. You could go with no mone at all. This wouldnt be very sensible though and you would have a "rough landing" compared to a couple with some money to invest into their resettlement.

Not vey good I am afraid. You would have more chance if you had a skill in demand. Nurse, Engineer etc.

Hello, Yes this is correct. The theory is that if you are tragically run over by a bus the Father would be his next of kin. The Australian Government will refuse your husband entry if it looks like his son would fail a medical test under a principle called "one fail- all fail" relating to the "family unit".

As citizens you are entitled to Canadian passports. With this document you can book a one way flight. No problem at all!

What you are missing out on is a nominated occupation on the Skilled Occupation List. One of you has to qualify in something Australia wants - nursing, teaching, trades etc and stay in the job for at least 12 months. Becoming a student in Australia can be an option - albeit a bit risky if you arent of a studious nature!

I would need more information before I can give an answer. I dont know if she will be able to use a 1 way ticket though. She will have to finish some work experience if she is to teach and migrate on this skill. Have her call me. I dont charge for a 5 minute telephone consultation. 0131 625 6906.
