Questions:

I am a fully qualified plumber / pipefitter with over 30 years experience. I would like to move to australia with my wife and 9 children. I understand that plumbers are in the trades in demand list, however the difficulty comes with my age, as I am 49. Does this disqualify me , or is there anyway around the age limit? I am in good health. I read that to obtain a skilled workers visa, either myself or my spouse must be under 45. In order to obtain a visa based on my wifes age, must she have a wanted occupation too? . Also do our children give us extra points? This is a long question I know but please help!!
Hello - I am unsure how to proceed with the evidencing of family members section of the Sub Class 136 application form. I do not speak to my father, his new wife and her children and therefore I am unable to get photographs of them for my application form - will this be a problem and how much should I disclose in my application? Would I be able to simply not give any details regarding these people? Thanks for your help.
Hello, I am 35 years old and from Canada with an education (diploma) and work history in television and film production (15 years). My girlfriend is 30 years old and from Holland with a background in anthropology and asian studies but never worked in this field. We want to immigrate to Australia begin new careers in farming. The idea is to begin as labourers and eventually work towards our own farm. We are willing to work in the remote and outlying areas of the country. We have about $65 000 saved between us. I understand the Zimbabweans are doing quite well in this department. Can you tell us whether or not we have a chance for Australian citizenship? Best regards, Jonathan and Sabien
Hi, I want to emigrate to Australia, and have possibly found a job to go to. Would this help me to have a job lined up? Also i have family (Uncle) who will sponser me. He lives in Perth, but i want to work in Brisbane. Will this be a problem? Do i need to live with him to be sponsered? Also, i have a IVA (Involentry Solvency Agreement). Will this stop me from emigrating?
Hi there (this is a great site!) - My partner and I wish to emigrate to Australia on a Skilled Independant Visa. My partner is a Joiner and I am a Probation Officer - however, we do not wish to make the move until Sept 2007 (due to various work and property commitments) - when would be the best time to start the application process? I have noticed that Joinery has now been put on the MODL list - if we were to apply in now whilst we gain these extra points how long would we have before we would have to take up the visa (assuming we got one!)? Also my partner had typhoid last February - he has been given the all clear now however would this effect the application? Many thanks for putting my mind at ease with the information on this site!!
Hi I am looking to immagrate to oz, i am a qualified joiner/carpenter but i have been unemployed for a few years only now and again have i had some casual work in the trade in recent years. the assessment said i had 95 points but was unsuccessful, how many points do you need i would be going with my wife and five children age 21 19 18 16 and 8 please help, i am really anxious to immagrate permantly.
Hello, My dream since I was 12 years old was to emigrate to Australia or New Zealand. When I met my husband and knew that he wanted the same thing I was in paradise. As son as we got married we applied to emigrate and went through the paperwork to find out what was needed. My husband is a qualified Carpenter and Joiner,but when his father passed away we didn't realise that his mother threw away lots of boxes,in them was his original certificate!We weren't to concerned because we knew we could get a replacement one,or so we thought. After several paid searches and telephone calls,City and Guilds said they couldn't find him on their computer so they cant give him a replacement one. He passed in 1987 after a 3 year course,his father made him do the course and pass if he wanted to help him at his job,who was also a carpenter/shipwright. As you know we need this proof to be eligable to qualify. On the news this morning they said Australia was crying out for carpenters,please can you tell us is there a way around this awful problem. i have always wanted to emigrate to australia or new zealand(after living there as a child for 2 yrs). so i took the family out to perth to see if they liked it. whilst there i managed to get a company to sponser me (4yr temp visa)and i have now passed and now have my flights booked to move. i have sold everything and cut all ties with england, because of this i would like to be perminant. how do i go about this? i would like to stay in perth or even still go to new zealand. i am a joiner of 35yrs - soon to be 36.
If your application is rejected, it is true that there is an option to appeal within a certain timescale??? if so what it is the timescale. Also I saw some recent information relating to the updating of the DOL listing for Skills in demand, does this now include brickies????
Hi there. My partner and I are due to get married next year and hope to apply to emigrate to Australia (from the UK) shortly after that on a Skilled Independent Visa with my partner as the lead applicant as he is a qualified Joiner and therefore gets more points than myself. However, my big concern is that I have already been granted 3 Australian visas in the past and need to know whether these will effect my chances of getting this visa. At age 22 I was granted a Working Holiday Visa and stayed in Australia for 12 months. I was then granted a Sponsorship Visa through a company I worked for during my working holiday visa. I then applied and was granted a De-Facto Relationship Visa to live with my Australian partner in Australia. However, this relationship broke down 6 months after this visa being granted and I returned to the UK in 2002. I have never out-stayed or broken any of my visa requirements however I have not informed anyone that I left Australia (it is though of course stamped in my passport). In total I have spent about 2 and a half years out the past 8 in Australia although the last time I lived and worked there was in 2002 and I have since visited Australia twice in the past 3 years on visitor visa's for a wedding and a christening with no problems. What I really to know is whether my previous visas will affect our application for a Skilled Independent Visa??

	Sorry to say that you wont qualify for a skilled visa. There is possibility of going on an "Employer Nomination" visa. Tricky and not one I would recommend to someone with 9 kids. New Zealand's cut off age is 56. Perhaps you would like to consider this. Call me (Richard Gregan) on 0131 625 6906 if you would like to discuss this as an option.

	What is your nominated occupation on SOL? Without this you cant go under "skilled" stream.

	My view on the best time to apply is - NOW.... You can "activate" the visa by making 1 trip to Australia - within the first year and then you have a 5 year period to get settled down there. The law as it is today usually only gets harder to gain a visa. So - apply now when you qualify. Typhoid shouldn't stop him clearing the "medical" requirement provided he is fit and well again and non-contagious. call 0845 601 7810 and explain your situation to a registered migration agent. 	To gain maximum points you need 12 from the last 18 months in your trade (or a similar one ) AND 3 of the last 4 years. If this is where you are dropping points you could possible pick them up via joiner/carpenter being on MODL (migration occupations in demand)list - call 0131 625 6906 for further advice.

	You REALLY need help. This could be a disaster for you. Please call 0845 601 7810 and explain your situation to a registered migration agent. (remember there is no charge for this service!) (Ask for Richard Gregan) This is an example of why registered migration agents can be vital. You could lose your place on the property ladder in the UK, settle into OZ and in 4 years time be asked to leave.

	1/ depends what body has refused you. Generally there is a timescale to lodge an appeal. Please note some classes of visa have no right of appeal! 2/ Yes

	No - they wont!
