Questions:

I live in UK. Should I get and send my police clearance with my visa application or wait until requested to do so?
I am filling out my visa application at present. There appears to be a need to prove recent work experience and specific work experience (extra points). In my case one work reference would satisfy both conditions - is it ok just to send one work reference?
Hello, we started our application for 136visa last august and everything went really well and all the times were much shorter for TRA etc than advised. However since we lodged oue application in february we have heard nothing at all, how long does this part usually take, we had hoped to go out for a holiday this august but this now seems unlikely. Thank you for this site it is great.
my husband is english and i am australian we want to move over to australia, we are not quite sure as to were to start with getting a spouse visa and how long it would take to get a responce back.
we have just been granted our aus visa after 20 months and it was hassle free until we sent our personal effects out by air and they have been impounded by customs we have been told we have to pay to have all the boxes opened by an officer or submit paper work and an inventory of the items to the last detail. I paid 1ooo euro and now am running up a charge of 35 aus dollars per day to the airline for storage until we come to an agreement. with the time difference it is difficult to speak to them. Do they have to give us a reason as to why they have impounded our goods?
I have been told by a South Afircan gus in Edinburgh that I am a "dead set simple case!" He said he would charge me £1400 + costs. what in yor opinion is a fair charge?
Is it possible to claim extra points after the visa application as been lodged? The Australian government have announced extra points for English language which would mean we wouldn't have to deposit $100k into a bond & what is the current processing time for SIR visas from lodgement of papers with DIMIA. Many thanks Ian.
My Grandmother is Irsih living in Uk most of her 84 years. Her daughter (my Mother) is British by birth (Lichfield). I was born in Pakistan as my mother and father then moved to Pakistan in 1960. Now I have two children born in Pakistan. (I have a British Passport) Do my kids qualify for British passports??)
Hi my partner of 5 years my two children and myself are thinking of immigrating to Australia one day when i have finished my IT studies. My sister is getting her permanent residency in Australia in June this year and said she will help us when the time comes, my question is i might have to go bankrupt due to lack of work where we live now, which has got me into the situation im in. i am working now but just wanted to know will bankruptcy affect us immigrating to Australia thanks Ryan
My wife and I are hoping to emigrate to Canada under the skilled workers program and have enough points to do so however we are concerned about the time taken to process applications. I understand some occupations can be fast-tracked - would high school teaching qualify? Also we are both under 35 so would also be eligible for a 1 year temp work visa - could we take this up whilst our main application was underway? Lastly if we happened to have a child while there on a one year work visa could this allow us to qualify as permanent residents automatically? Thanks.

I always recomend waiting until you are requested to get it. You can apply for it now - as it can take up to 40 days to have it returned to you.

You have the choice to use an agent - or DIY. It will take around 3-5 months at present if you are reasonably average in document/evidence gathering.

Customs have pretty much unlimited powers when it comes to this sort of thing. Get an agent down under to deal with it for you. There are some partners ont this site. Crown and Anglo are both great companies in my experience.

What is a "gus"? Is that like "guy"? If so I will give you my opinion. I have lived in Edinburgh for the last 20 years. There is no MARA registered Agent here that is South African. DO NOT TOUCH ANY AGENT THAT IS NOT MARA REGISTERED. £1400 is a reasonable fee but are you going to get reasonable service? Is the agent going to deliver what he promises? IF he doesnt and he is not registered you have no recourse to a professional body. How does he keep up to date with the "oh so frequent" law changes? As registered agents we are obliged to keep up to date and spend around £2K per anum on a library. Dont touch unregisterered agents with a barge pole. If its who I think it is he is decidedly dodgy!

Hello Ian, The case will be considered against all skill visa catergories. SIR is taking circa 5 to 9 months at present.

Hello Ryan, Generally bankruptcy is only considered in "business applications". So no - it should not affect a "skills" application.

The time should come down - but is unagreeably long at present. Canada will invest more into processing. Teaching wont speed things up in my recent experience. Having a child would mean putting an application in to have him/her join your permanent residence application assuming it is not already issued - in which case the child would have your visa status.
