Hi, I am a single 36 year old hotel sales manager in the UK. I am wanting to emigrate to Perth Australia but have been told that as my occupation is not on the skill list it would be virtually impossible to get ANY kind of visa either tempoary or perminant. As all my experience has been on the job training and have no acctual qualifications relating to the job, what would be the best route for me to take and secondly where can i find a list of the SOL? There must be some opptions open?
I'm from the Philippines and have plans of migrating to Australia. I'm a skilled worker and have already talked with a prospective employer. How long does visa processing take place and what kind of visa will I be granted? Will there be a chance that my family can also emigrate and finally settle in Australia? If so, how long will this all in all possibly take place? Is Gladstone, Queensland a good place to stay? What's the annual income in that part of Australia does a single income household with 4 members including 2 school age children, need to be able to live a comfortable life? What jobs are available in Gladstone? What website do I have to visit to know more about Gladstone, aussiemove.com has no information on Gladstone.

I am currently applying for my permanent visa and was hoping to emigrate to commence my job offer in Australia in 12 months. However, due to unforseen circumstances, I will not be able to leave in twelve months and it may well be two or three years before I can leave. Is it worth me completing the application now or will the visa expire if I don't emigrate? Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Without formal training - i.e college course, formal aprenticeship etc you need 6 years informal training.

In some circumstances you could. You probably need to download a copy of the migration guide and pay particular attention to the SOL (skilled occupation list)

You will need to "activate your visa" - i.e. make initial entry within 1 year of medical or penal (whichever is the earlier) This could be for a 1 week trip if you like. You then have 5 years to return from the date of grant.
