re moral turpitude so does that mean a crime that may atract a term of imprisonment or one that has attracted a term of imprisonment, my offences of which i have 2 convictions coverering 14 specimen(7 eachtime) charges 14/15 odd yrs ago attracted a fine of about £300 each charge first time and£500 2nd i was not arrested at any time and appeared by summons, i am appliying for a visa and have my subject access form , but i am worried that as i have ticked the no box on the visa waiver in the past, i might have inadvertantly "lied" , but lets face it what layman would know what it meant?
Hi, I was arrested four years ago for a fairly minor offence (i was alledged to have broken a seat in a football ground), but the charges were dropped and I have no convictions (I have never been in any other trouble). I am hoping to travel to america and work for four months in the summer through BUNAC. Would you expect this to cause me any problems when I attempt to get a J-1 visa? I know that I must declare the fact that I have been arrested but I am unsure of the name of the form which I have to ask for at my local police station. Thanks for any help
Hi, I was charged with Fare evasion on London Underground eight months back. I appeared in court and was fined £50. I am currently on work permit in UK and am applying for a two year extension through my employer. Do I need to declare this in the extension form? I believe there was no criminal record against my name for this offence. If declared how will lt affect my chances of extension
I have, by definition a substantial Criminal Record in the UK (only), However, these date back 20+ years and I have been working for Developament and International Aid Agencies now for 16+ years. Whilst on assignment in Sri Lanka 8 years ago I met my (now Wife) who is an Austrailian citizen, 7 years ago we married and carried on both working for similer agencies. How ever now we are looking to settle down and as her wish is to settle near her familly, Australia is the obviouse choice.
But I am realy scared that Dima may refuse a migrent visa due to my convictions even though they are more than 20 years old and this would ruin our life plans now, I can obtain good references for the last 16 years both from employers and personal referees.
Please Help this is really causing some sleepless nights for both of us
can you tell me what constitutes a crime of moral turpitude, i have asked the embassy but the scotish employees say its any crime, that can possibly be correct , if it was no one would be allowed into the usa if they have a conviction of any sort
HI.I am 24 and my fiance and i are planning to apply for a Australian Working Visa. we want to travel Australia for a year, after visiting it last year.Problem is, I do have a police record, i was a minor when i did it, 16, it was so stupid,me and a teenage boyfriend were getting discarded receipts with credit card numbers on them to top up our mobile phones, (which was easily done back then)but i got caught, charged and fined. I know criminal records are a problem with australian authorities and i noticed other people on this site have asked similar questions. However at the moment, we just want a Working visa, just to travel for a year and I am absolutely terrified this stupid thing will stop me doing this.Happy to say, i have squeaky clean record now, the offence was spent 3 years ago, and ive never done a thing wrong since and dont intend to.I have always been in employment with reputable national companies and have a lot of excellent people thought highly of, that i know would give me character references. But would that make a difference? would they believe me, do the authorities take these things into consideration or is it a case of, criminal record=no entry at all.?
I have posted questions on the net before, open to general public(not experts) on Yahoo answers, and lets just say their answers have crushed me.Is it true that no-one with a police record will ever get any acceptance into australia?
would really like some advice because we are planning to start our tavelling in September, we will be saving our funds between now and then (ive heard applying for a working visa is useless unless you have 5000 AUD) but this worry is driving me mad every day and i know we cant apply for our visas until we have the money, but i need to know now, if theres any chance, or if i am just wasting my time?
Hopefully you can help.
Thank you so much.
Hi, great site. Last October (15 months ago) I received a police caution for criminal damage of a motorcycle to the sum of 300 pound. I am 20 years old now and never got in trouble before or since. It was an isolated incident - even though not required, I paid the chap the 300 pound for the damage I caused to save him losing his no claims on his insurance.
Would this effect me travling to either Australia or USA? Would I have to apply for a Visa for USA or would my British passport waive me through? Cheers for any advice in advance.| Questions & Answers | |

Once you have your conviction and the penalty you should approach an experienced migration agent to assist you in preparing a good application and rebuttal of any character queries in the mind of the decision maker on your application. |

Yes - this could cause the application to be rejected. The Government of Australia will want to assure themsleves they will not be liable for any expensive nursing care or other treatment. Call Richard Gregan on 0131 625 6906 to discuss the best way forward. |

This is not a dead end to applying - but it will cause problems. If you are going to apply you will need to have a good argument as to why you are not a risk of reoffending. Call Richard Gregan to discuss on 0131 625 6906. |

You will have some questions asked of you. With a spouse on your application there is less chance of refusal. You should apply regardless and get the application decided on. |

You will have to explain your crime and punishment to a visa officer. This could well stop you getting a visa. You must declare the crime and explain when you are asked to do so. |

You must declare this for both countries. It should not affect you getting a visa. Waiver programme for USA is not now an option for you. |
