Hi, we had our medicals a few months ago. Would we have heard by now if there were any problems with them?

I am in the process of applying for a visa for permanent residency (sponsored by husband's future employer) for Australia am about to have chest xray and then medical, i am normally very healthy, never get sick etc, however(and probably due to lifestyle then) a few years ago i was diagnosed with high blood pressure (was not excessively high but high none the less) but is being managed fine with medication, no other associated problems. Will this affect my application? My Dr has supplied details for me showing history and regular normal bp readings to take to medical with me.

You must declare it. It should not affect you any more than having to explain the circumstances etc to satisfy the deciding officer that you are not a risk of reoffending.

NZIS will want an explanation. They may want evidence of good character to assure themselves of how "reformed" you are. This is an area I would advise to get professional help in.

from medical submitted to hearing can take 6 to 20 weeks. Christmas may have lengthened that timescale recently.

It can. You should disclose the ofence and explain what happened. If it is serious or the decising officer is concerned it may be referred to the "character unit" for consideration. I have known these to be refused. This is one of my areas of specialty. I represent clients who have this sort of problem. Richard Gregan 0131 625 6906.

Not ususally as a migration principle. From a purely employment point of view they do if you can get a visa any other way.

Depending upon how serious the problem is - you may be rejected. DIMA will almost certainly request a Cardiac Consultants report for the medical officer to decide on your case.
