Hello, I have been offered a permenent job in Australia and the company are going to sponsor me and my family for permanent residency. The sponsorship has already been approved by Australian government I now need to get police check and medicals done. I am now 40 but am a bit concerned about a couple of things from years ago, when i was 14 i was charged with a fire arms offence (i was stupidly carrying an air gun.. not loaded while walking home) do i need to declare this as it was a juvenile offence? And aged 17 i brought a tv and it later came to light it was stolen and i was charged with receiving stolen goods. Thankfully no other dealings with the law since then, I have worked hard to got well qualified in my trade and brought up my son. Do you think these two silly things from my youth will stop me getting my visa approved?

Hi, I am a student nurse, and on the weekend I got cautioned with assault after a fight broke out. Hi. I am Canadian and have lived in the UK for 5 years. My boyfriend of 4 years suffers from mild depression and has been on and off antidepressants for tha past 2 years ( he has never been off work for this condition). Also, 7 years ago he received a caution for using threatening words (a stupid, out of character action - result of his underlying depression). We are getting married in a few months and after that plan to begin his application process to immigrate to Canada. Do you see these 2 issues as major problems for his application?| Questions & Answers | |

Depending upon how serious the problem is - you may be rejected. DIMA will almost certainly request a Cardiac Consultants report for the medical officer to decide on your case. |

This is an area where I specialise in puting the best case forward for the applicant. The department will want to be reassured that this wont happen again or cost Australia any money. Feel free to call Richard Gregan on 0131 625 6906 - 10 till 4 over the holiday period excepting the statutory days. |

No - I dont think they will stop you getting a visa - but questions will probably be asked - so my advice is to be as open as possible and explain it all honestly. |

In my previous answer I intended to convey you will need to have THe U.S. authorities review the circumstances of your crime, the penalty and any factors relevant to them deciding whether or not to let you into their country. (Hence the term "apply for a visa") There is no such thing as a spent conviction in immigration law. This is an EU and Uk term relating to disclosure of certain types of offence at job interviews after an elapsed period of time. I would say you will have a hill to climb to get a visa issued. |

You will have to explain what happened but I wouldnt see it as too high a hurdle. |

I think this may cause questions to be asked. However, the way you have described it I dont see it being a refusal. |
