Hi. I'm just about ready to send off my New Zealand residence application off. I'm applying under the partnership policy, and due to the fact that there is so much paper work involved, and having to provide evidence of our relationship, the final pack is huge. Do you have any suggestions of how to present it? I've heard that I shouldn't put the various forms into plastic folders, but I'm reluctant to put all the loose papers and photos straight into an envelope. Would a cardboard folder with dividers for each section be an idea? What can you suggest? Thanks :-)
Hello,I am Canadian citizen living in the UK on a 2 year holidaymaker. My partner of 8 months is planning to move back with me to Canada in June of 2007(this means we will have to live long-distance for 6 months as he completes his computer software certificate). We are planning to marry in the next two years but have not finalised the date (I would like him to see Canada first!). My question is: is the working holiday visa his only option, or can we apply as a defacto couple? We will not be able to prove evidence of having lived together until he is living in Canada with me.
I am british, and my boyfriend is australian. We are planning to marry in the next few months and we have lived together for over 2 years. When can we apply for residency in each others countries, and how long does it take? Also, can we apply before hand, or should we wait till were married? thanks.
If I marry a canadain girl, how long it will take the permanent residency?
I am an australian citizen, but not classed as perminant resident as i havent lived there for a few years (but do own property there) and i have been seeing an english guy for nearly 3 years. We have lived together for all of this time but with 9 months living seperately because of work commitents. He came to stay at mine last year when we wanted to get married but, his family couldnt afford to fly over, so i have moved to england on a working visa and we are living together. We want to get married, but dont know where we want to live and settle down in the future, either in australia or in the uk. If we get married, do we have to stay in england for me to get a more perminant status? we like travelling, and but dont know where we stand?
My partner is australian and im british. We met 18months ago whilst working on board a cruise ship in america. We lived together for 8 months before our contracts sent us both home seperatley. We couldnt get employment together for 8 months, then we lived together for on another contract for 10 months. We are now living together in london, he is on a working visa, as we didnt want to rush into anything, but now we are planning on getting married this summer. How will this affect his visa?
I'm worried about sending my Residence application off. I'm applying under the partnership policy, and have included photos, bills, letters, and emails between us, as well as statements from family/friends declaring we are a couple. However, if this is still not enough, will my application be immediately rejected or will they ask for more evidence? I can't afford to lose all the money I have forked out in the process.
I met a man whilst he was in the UK traveling, we have kept in touch and recently I spent a month in Australia with him, I am now hoping to get a 12 month working visa to give our relationship a go, will I be able to extend this if things are working out still, what is the best option - I need to know as I would hate to get settled in Oz only to have to come home again with no option to stay, I work as and IT trainer and have also worked in the Real Estate business for many years - does this help?
Hi I am British Citizen currently in New Zealand with my Boyfriend who is a NZ Resident, we have been together for one year but am hoping to go back to England in May when my working visa expires, my boyfriend is over thirty so we are wanting to go back on a defacto visa for him. We will however be under the two years of living together to get the defacto visa, are the immigration officers flexible at all on this amount of time? we will of been living together at that point for about 19 months, with proof of living/travelling will this be feasible?| Questions & Answers | |

You can apply as either a spouse or a skilled migrant. Spouse is probably quicker but you will need licensing when you get to NZ to work in your trade. |

four big rubber bands. Also - make sure you make a photocopy of the entire file. It is awful when they go missing in the post. |

You can apply now! You should only do so if you want to live in that country though! |

You can apply for leave to remain now on the basis of your defacto status. |

Your partner can apply for UK residence on this basis and you can apply for Australian. |

If the deciding officer is unsure because of a lack of evidence he/she will write to you asking for more. There is a law relating to "what makes an application valid" -if you miss this requirement you will be rejected. |

If you are under 31 years you can get a 12 month working holiday visa - that is extendable for a further 12 months if you work in the agricultural sector for 3 months. If you live as "man and wife" (a de facto marriage) then you can apply on this basis after the 12 months has elapsed. |
