Questions:

Hi, My wife and I are thinking of emigrating to Australia. I'ma chartered engineer and my wife is a manager. We both score well on the points system. However, 7 years ago my wife was convicted for fraud, sentenced to 18 months , served 9. How does this affect chances of entry? She had never been in trouble before, or since. Thanks
Can you tell me how long a police check lasts. A friend advised me to obtain one before I began my application and now I have applied, it is 7 months old. Someone said that after 12 months I will need a new one. Is this correct? Thanks for any help
I received a police caution 3 years ago for possesion of a very small amount of amphetimine.i have no other offences.Iam planning to travel to america for my honeymoon this year. Can i enter using the visa waiver scheme?
i am african and getting married to an american but we have discovered that we are both hiv positive so will i qualify for american spouse visa
I received a caution over 10 years ago for theft (shoplifting) and have travelled maybe 20 times to and from the US on the Visa Waiver Programme without realising I was supposed to declare it (until I did some research on the web). I was just formally cautioned again last week, again for shoplifting. I think I should probably apply for a visa. But to what extent will TWO cautions for the same offence affect my chances?
my question was about theft and theft from person,i'd like to thank you for your quick reply and for putting my mind at ease, thankyou very much,i will reccomend you to anyone who i think will benefit from your advice.
i was convicted of theft and theft from person in the year 2000, i did community service and was also on a 3 year probation order which was completed within a year and a half.i'm wanting to go on holiday to walt disney orlando, i have filled in the relevant police check form,is this conviction likely to refuse me a visa?
I want my elderly parents to apply for a contributory elderly parents visa to join me in Australia ( I am a citizen). I am concerned about teh medical as my mother has early vascular dementia (she is 79). My father is a very fit 80. Would her condition mean that she wouldn't be granted a visa, even in this category where they would pay a lot. Thanks
Hi, I had a drink driving offence over 15 years ago. It is no longer on my licence but may show up on the police report. Will I be refused a skilled workers immigration visa for this. No other offences apart from this. Also, my wife had a kideny transplant 10 years ago. All successful and no issues. She takes certain medication which we will pay for ourselves but could we be refused the visa on medical grounds as the drugs are expensive?

Yes - this will cause you problems. You have a good chance of being succesful in an application despite this conviction. You should in my opinion use an experienced Registered Migration Agent to assist you in this aspect of your application. Richard Gregan 0131 625 6906. I do several similar cases every year.

12 months is the life span. Howver the older it is the shorter your time from visa grant to visa validation. i.e. you will have to enter Australia by the anniversary of the police check being issued.

No. You have been convicted of an offence punishable by imprisonment.

You will need representation and will have an uphill struggle. Good Luck.

I would normally be quite confident you would be granted a visa. However in your case you have travelled and NOT declared an offence. I would suggest you get representation to apply for a visa.

Visa Waiver is not available for you. You must apply to the embassy. I dont know of any refusals for this amount of offending.

This could well be a medical condition that would be refused. I would suggest you contact a Registered Migration Agent near you. www.themara.com.au
