Questions:
i have been offered work in australia for the same boss i used to work for in the uk he is a australian citizen and said he would sponser me i would like to know how to apply for a visa for me and my child he is only two
A company in Adeliade have offered me sponsorship as a diesel mechanic. They are just waiting for government approval as a sponsorship company. I believe they will not have any problems getting approval. I am a qualified diesel mechanic but I have worked as a tanker driver carrying hazardous chemicals for the past 13 years. Part of the duties does invove checking vehicle for defects and reporting to workshop. I am currently assisting in the company workshop (voluntary) to refresh my skills. The company offering me sponsorship is aware of all this. Will I still get a long stay 457 visa even though I haven't been employed as a mechanice for a long time. if not would I be eligible for a visa as a truck driver. Many thanks
I have heard that Facilities Managers are required in Oz, Is this correct? Thanks for any advice.
Morning
Thanks for getting back so quickly, I just wanted to ask you a few qwuestions in regard to your reply:-
1. What makes you believe that HR Management will remain a 60 point occupation and that it will be added to the MODL list
2. What amount of experience is required
3. Finally can you explain how I can apply now even though I may not have the required experience, p.s what do you mean when you say 'valid application', can I apply now before I have the requisite experience?
Once again Many Thanks - your advice is very much appreciated
Hi There I am a HR Business Partner with 3 years blue chip experience, I have done some research into the growth of the profession in Australia over the next 3-4 years, the growth is set to be strong. Is HR Management likely to remain a 60 point occupation and will it make the modl list. Many Thanks
Crystal ball stuff really. My best gusess is yes - it will. To protect yourself you can lodge a valid application before any changes then you will judged under the rules on the day that you lodge! July 1st and September 1st are the days they often change the Skilled Occupation List.

I am a plumber by trade but havent actually worked as a plumber for many years. I am currently employed as a supervisor, in charge of running a housing repair team and supervise plumbers/joiners/plasters etc. Would I still be able to gain access as a plumber even though I dont have proven recent experience ? I have all the necessary qualifications and obviously use these skills on a daily basis to supervise my staff. Your comments on this would be appreciated.
Hi. I would like to move to NZ or australia in about 5 years time. I currently work for a bank (and have done for 10 years) but i dont think i would be accepted as this is just a clerical position and certainly not in demand. I have an interest in working in a hospital and am considering studying a 2 year course to become an operating theatre practioner/assistant. As i dont want to move for another five years, this would give me time to qualify and gain several years experience. I know that nurses are in demand however, I am not sure whether an operating theatre assistant would be sufficient to gain me a visa and if NZ/Australia will prefer their own qualifications rather than UK qualifications. I obviously dont want to do this course and then find that this qualification was useless for my application to NZ/Aust. I hope you can help on this.
hi! I am currently studying plumbing at college (level 2 tech cert)! I have experience in a similar field of work (self employed domestic appliance engineer for 4 years) would my eventual qualification & my similarly related work experience gain me a visa to australia & if not, what would I do next..... Jon (32)
hi, i've been in the prison service for about 5 year and wondered how hard/easy it would be to transfer to a prison in western australia?

Truck driver is not on the Skilled occupation list - so you cant apply as this. The 457 does not have recent work history requirements so this seems the best route for you. After 1 years work experience in Australia - you should consider applying for a permenent residence visa. 457 is only ever temporary! |

Facilities Manager is not on the SOL so therefore cannot migrate under the Skilled programme. It is true however that there would be alot of employment oppurtunities. A closer look look at your duties performed may reveal a suitable ASCO code on the Skilled occuaption List. |

As I said - I dont have a belief - I have "guessed" - albeit as an educated person. A valid application has to have the requisite work experience amongst other things (fee, form, bio docs, skills assesment etc) - in 60 point occupations that is 12 out of the last 18 months. |

Hi John, I would say you need more experience as a plumber before applying. Appliance engineer is not on the skills list and could cause problems. Plse send me a CV richard @my-oe.com and I can let you know how best to proceed. |
