I am currently an IT Manager having lived in the UK all my life. I am looking to migrate to New Zealand with my family.
I wanted to know if I have a realistic chance of being granted residence in New Zealand. Also what I have to do to apply and what order to go about things? Re: is there any point applying for work, if I have not been approved, or do you get a job offer first?
Any help would be appreciated.

If you emigrate to Canada as a Skilled Worker, do you have to remain in that field once you settle there or could you for example, set up your own business such as a bed and breakfast? I have no experience in that at the moment so cannot apply as Business Class but the chance to have my own B&B is the main reason I want to go!

You will have to apply to the Trades Recognition Authority TRA in Australia for an assessment of your occupation as a skilled tradesperson. If you have never worked as a tradesman this will not be available. Otherwise your occupation will be required to go thru another assessing authority and they ALL require formal qualifications for their assessment and do NOT assess experienced only people. On Australia’s Skills Occupations list Occupational Health and Safety officer is assessed by Vetassess, so you will require at least a 3 year diploma or 3 year bachelor degree. Industry qualifications cannot be assessed. |

To meet the requirements for work experience you are required to show employment in an occupation on the list. This must be done 20 hours a week or more and be on a paid basis. Voluntary unpaid work CANNOT be assessed for migration purposes. Also without formal qualifications it will be very difficult to obtain an assessment through one of the assessing authorities. |

Yes you can start up a business in Australia without being a resident, ie Richard Branson, but he is not a resident and therefore cannot live and work in Australia. But if you are in a small business and you are required to be hands on and work in the Australian office on a day to day basis then you must hold a resident visa which allows you do so. The 1 year work visa are issued once in a lifetime, so no you are not eligible for a new one. If you have not owned and run a company in the last 4 then you would not be eligible for a business visa. You will need to look at your options of meeting the general skills migration policy to gain entry. I would advise that you contact a local registered migration agent. Please go to www.themara.com.au " |

To answer this question you will need to complete the OE Visas online assessment form and attach a full CV in word format. Our NZ lawyer and migration consultant will assess your details and then contact you for a further assessment and provide advice of what service OE Visas can provide, and what steps are required to get the ball rolling on an application." |

In general we would not count points for a profession without recognised qualifications, particularly if the applicant is no longer in this form of employment. We would need additional information to determine if this applicant is migrateable. Please fill out our Assessment form for a detailed breakdown of your migration options" |

Once you are in Canada as a Permanent Resident there are no restrictions on what work you do or working for yourself. As long as you are not sponsored by an employer and claim points for a job offer you are a permanent resident and can live and work doing whatever you want. |

(I understand they are on Government FastTrack). Can he contact them direct or should he apply for a visa first, before looking for a job Also, if he is successful in finding a job and I wanted to join him and also work there, would I be able to as his fiance or would we need to be married? Thank you for your help. Regards Trudie ---------------------------------------------------- The company in Australia will be seeking sponsorship from DIMIA directly and should assist the applicants they wish to sponsor to Australia. You would need to apply to then directly, they will sort your visa and offer employment. This would be a temporary visa and you are obliged to work only for your sponsor. If you wish to join him you must be either married or show proof you have been living in a common law de facto relationship for 12 + months. |

My fiance has just sent off his prospective marriage visa applcation to London on Monday of this week and then last night he came home and had been made redundant from his job!!! I'm hoping you can offer some advice.... Does your case officer do an employment check? One of Dean's contact numbers on his application is his work number. Will they view his case differently if he's lost his job? When we get assigned a case reference number, should we inform them straight away? Any advice would be appreciated....I'm starting to stress!!!! -------------------------------------------------------------- Employment staus is not relevant to a prospective spouse - as it could be for a skilled visa. Whoever is the non-Aussie still qualifies - employed or not. They will probably send you a change of circumstances form - or telephone interview you at some point - either would be a suitable place to mention this. |
| Do I need to have a job to go to before I can emigrate? | |
|
Having a job to go to is not usually a prerequisite to achieve permanent residence status in your country of choice. Indeed it can often be difficult to secure employment until you have been granted residence. The starting point in the emigration process is to assess your eligibility for emigration to Australia, emigration to New Zealand, emigration to Canada, emigration to the United States of America. Your eligibility is in itself a good indicator of your future employability (see self assessment form). Overseas Emigration Visas has direct first-hand knowledge of the employment markets within each of its destination countries and is well placed to match your skills to specific locations. |
