My partner is a plumber and therefore we plan to apply under the skilled route. However, I understand there are some time constraints we have to stict to and i would be grateful if you can explain them. We do not want to move for approx 5 years yet, as my partner has a son, who doesnt live with us, and he doesnt want to leave him until he is 18. How long do we have before we have to be settled in Australia ? I understand that there is some kind of 5 year rule, but do we have to have been living there for a certain length of time at the end of this period. We cant apply any later as my partner is 45 next year.
I have been asked by the DIMA to provide certified copies of all passports in the application, and to sign a Health undertaking. I have sent this back to my agent in Sydney who has advised by email that he has sent this to the DIMA today. Can you advise me of how long this takes as they have stated in the letter that if visas will be granted you must enter no later than February 10th 2007. Should I wait for the official letter... or am I to assume that we have the visa & wait for the letter to follow whenever... I must say I do feel at unease in doing this as I have nothing official. Do you know how long this will take…..? And how do you feel I should play this situation do...?| Questions & Answers | |

not really. OE does not do UK migration - try visa logic. |

As he is not dependant he wont cause you all to fail under the "one-fail-All-fail" policy. I would only be able to comment if he wouold likely be granted a visitors visa depending upon the seriouslness of the crime. i.e Very serious crime - not likely to get visitors visa. Minor Crime - probably will get a visitors visa. |

Dependant children cannot sponsor an adult. However there may be a way in for you via either skilled migration or family quota. Call Richard Gregan on 0131 625 6906 (next week now realistically) for advice. |

You and adult members of the migrating family unit must pass the "character test". This entails a "conviction history" document from each of the countries you have lived in as an adult for the past 10 years. |

depending on the visa catergory it can take from 6 weeks to 9 - 12 months. There is LOTS of paperwork. Registered Migration Agents charges vary greatly; Unregistered/uninsured people working from there back bedrooms can charge significantly less than a kosher establishment like my own. Of the decent operators in the UK we are all about the same for fees. Call me, Richard Gregan on 0131 625 6906 for a quote. (we are a fixed fee company - you know how much up front and pay over the period the work is completed) |
