Questions:

Is a UK degree classed as a recognised Australian qualification? and is a UK PGCE (teaching qualification) also classed as a recognised Australian Qualification? How do I mark this on the assessment form if so?
Hi We are currently applying to immigrate to Australia. If we are granted a permanent Visa and subsequently, before immigating, we have a child does the child automatically get residency also? If not, how do we get round this?
Hi, We are married UK residents and have previously travelled Australia on a Working Holiday Visa. We are wanting to immigrate to Australia permanently and both have enough points on your online form. What is the next step? Which Visa type do we apply for - one of us has a job 'in demand'...
Dear Sir/ Madam, I intend to apply for immigration to Australia under Designed Areas Sponsored category (Sub class 139). I have got PhD degree and Bachelor Degree in Economics from Moscow Information Technology University in Russian. I have some questions need your help 1/ I have got my sister who is Australian citizen and she has been living in Clayton South, Vic, 3169 for 2,5 years. So I only need meet basic requirements under requirement of subclass 139. This means that I don't need pass points test. In fact, I got positive assessment on Economist skill (50 points) and I have been teaching at Business and Administration faculty in an institute in Vietnam for 6 years . My nominated occupation (economist) and my work experience (lecturer/teacher) is very different. So I wonder whether or not I can meet basic requirement? 2/ Can lecturer be an occupation in SOL (as Vocational Education Teacher (Non-trade). 3/ I have trouble in my document to prove my sister is real sister. We are siblings. In our birth certificates our parents' names are the same, their residence addresses are the same as well, but their age are totally different. Because we were born during Vietnam War. When I was born my father was away from home, so my mother's friend was the person who filled the form to register my birth certificate. She did not know exactly our parents' ages. That's why their age was not accurate in my birth certificate and both of them have lost their birth certificate in Vietnam War. Do you think there is any trouble in proving our relationship? I am looking forward to hearing form you soon. Thank you in advance Best wishes Anh Nguyen

Both my partner and myself have applied for a visa to Australia, under Skilled Worker (sub class 137) we already have received confirmation from the State of Victoria of our sponsorship if we are successful. Our application was made at Christmas and they have confirmed approx 2 weeks ago that they require an up to date Police Check and we are required to have our meds carried out with information to be received in Auz before 18th May, what is the general time scale to here once this step has been completed if we have been successful or not? Thanks for you help.

We are a couple of teachers. We are French civil servants and we retire at the end of June 2006. Our retirement pensions will be paid by the French Government. We apply for permanent visas for Australia. We will appreciate if you clearly indicate to us how to proceed, what documents to provide, where to send them and what person to contact. We ignore how long the processing will take. So we make our inquiry a year before. Expecting to hearing from you. Mandeng-Biyong

Questions & Answers

No - they can be recognised by an Australian assessing authority but of themselves they are not "instantly recognised".
Hi We are currently applying to immigrate to Australia. If we are granted a permanent Visa and subsequently, before immigating, we have a child does the child automatically get residency also? If not, how do we get round this?
No the new baby would not automatically get residence. A change of circumstances form will need to be submitted - The new baby would need to pass a medical examination and the child added to your application.

Your question is far too specific and many facts are not known-there we are unable to give any accurate feedback without knowing the specifics of your case. Rather than giving you advice with only half the facts known, please ring one of our consultants on 0845 601 7810 and explain your situation to a registered migration agent. (remember there is no charge for this service!)

It seems you have a strong case- after sufficient work experience is gained as you have already gathered. To be a spouse you must either be married or considered "defacto" that is - have lived together as man and wife for 12 months on the date of application.

From our experience the timescale ranges from 3 to 12 weeks.

In answer to all your questions - yes & no - In answer to your last question - Yes there is such thing as a personal emigration consultant. OE Visas has a team of 4 Registered Migration Agents for Australia (soon to be 6) Call Owen Small or Richard Gregan on 0845 601 7810

I do not recommend starting a 410 retirement visa until after July 1st - when a new set of criteria are to be released - more favourable to the migrant. This is not something that I can explain here - you generally need an experienced agent for this visa.
i have relapse remitting multiple sclerosis, will this stop us as a family progressing with the immigration ?
Sometimes yes - sometimes no. The rule of thumb is - is your medical condition going to cost the health community any money. I have had success with some cases such as yours and failed with others. This does need input form a professional and a full medical opinion may be in order prior to proceeding with migration.

Currently they are taking around 4 to 6 weeks - assuming there is no medical issue that requires further investigation. If there is such an issue (diabetes, height/weight-ratio, epilepsy, previous serious illness you could add on anther 8 to 12 weeks.
