New Zealanders are happy with their quality of life |

A large-scale survey of over 7000 New Zealanders carried out independently by TNS on behalf New Zealand’s government and City Councils has revealed that an overwhelming majority, 90%, are content with the quality of their lives.
The survey was split into various categories on which participants graded their overall happiness. The categories and the response to them are reflected below:
Health
90% viewed their health positively, with 22% regarding themselves as being in ‘excellent’ health, 41% stating ‘very good’, and 27% stating ‘good’.
Physical Exercise
Exercise is taken seriously by New Zealanders, 59% of whom say they undertake physical exercise on 5 days a week or more. 22% exercise 3 or for times a week, and 12% once or twice a week.
Happiness
Collectively, New Zealanders are happy, with 86% content with life in general, 36% of whom were ‘very happy’ and 54% of whom were ‘happy’.
Sense of Security
Most New Zealand residents felt safe in their homes (96% during the day, 91% after dark), but less so in their neighbourhood (78% after dark, 63% walking alone after dark) or in the city centre (92% during the day, 50% after dark). |
