Australia to close outstanding priority 5 applications

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) have made a statement to the effect that only a small number of 175, 176 and 475 visas will be granted this year. All remaining Priority 5 applications will then be declared closed. All applicants who are waiting in the Priority 5 pool will be notified of closure, finally bringing an end to the lengthy stasis affecting Priority 5 applicants over the last few years. It is likely that their DIBP fees will be refunded. DIBP’s statement can be read here
