Australia’s population continues to rise

by | Feb 22, 2013

Not since the third quarter of 2009 has Australia’s population grown so rapidly, with skilled migrants arriving in large numbers once more, hoping to get a taste for the ‘lucky country’. The influx boosted population by 1.6% last year. According to the latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, net overseas migration added 208,300 people in the year to June 2012, an increase of 22% on the previous 12 months. Arrivals of 472,100 outstripped departures of 263,800.
