Election result triggers DIAC name change

by | Oct 4, 2013

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) has changed its name to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP). The change coincided with the appointment of Scott Morrison as the new Minister for Immigration and Border Protection. Although the name change is likely a political move designed to demonstrate the immigration priorities of the new government, in practical terms there will be little impact felt by clients of DIAC / DIBP although we can expect minor changes in immigration forms and headers. In light of the name change, forms which have been partially completed pending the submission of an application will now need to be updated when the new versions go live.
