Tasmania Skilled Occupation List 2017-18 - Article 1

Here’s why you should emigrate to Tasmania

When people first consider Emigrating to Australia they tend to think of Queensland and Sydney first. Why wouldn’t you? Both have great weather most of the year, the job opportunities offer reasonable salaries and quality of life is great. But the fact is competition is getting tough with growing number of skilled migrants coming into Australia from India, China and the Philippines and it seems it’s getting harder for the British and Irish as the Asian migrants are scoring high points and filling demand. And then there’s the recent 457 Visa Sponsorship changes that will be enforced in March 2018. Well you’ll be pleased to know that all is not lost as Australia’s a huge place and Tasmania is calling for skilled migrants to fill these roles for anyone who makes a successful expression of interest for state sponsorship.

Here are a few reasons why you should consider emigrating to Tasmania.

  • Tasmania is looking for Skilled Migrants to fill over 160 occupations. You can view the full Government of Tasmania skilled occupation list here.
  • Tasmania is an attractive state for migrants because it’s great food culture, affordable housing in comparison to major cities like Sydney and Melbourne and excellent school system.
  • Tasmania’s Government want to make the state more culturally diverse and bring in a high level of skilled migrants from all over the world to meet their future targets.
  • “Prospective skilled migrants can apply to the Department of State Growth for a Tasmanian Government state nomination” or speak with a Registered Migration Agent about how to submit an application.
  • Unlike applying for a Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189) there is no fee to apply for a Government state nomination and you’ll be given extra points to help you meet the minimum threshold of 60 points.

“Extra Points State nomination gives successful applicants extra points to help meet the Department of Home Affairs' 60 point threshold including:
  • extra five points for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) visa
  • extra 10 points for the Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 489).

  • There will still be a fee for your application and any migration agent fees.
  • Did you know that the Tasmania state nomination will mean a faster visa process, meaning you get your visa approved faster.
  • There are no occupation ceilings on state nomination meaning once you’re nominated for SkillSelect you can immediately apply for your visa.
There are now more Skilled occupations to choose from People applying for state nominated visas have more occupations to choose from and applicants “with no employment offers have access to the Tasmanian Skilled Occupations List (TSOL) and all other applicants have access to the Migration Instrument 2017 (IMMI 17/072: Specification of Occupations and Assessing Authorities). Skilled migrants applying for the Skilled Independent (subclass 189) visa must use the shorter Medium and Long Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)” view source To find out if you are eligible to emigrate to Australia take our FREE Australia Visa Assessment

  • Things are working out really well for us in NZ and I am more than happy for my comments to be posted on your website, I meant what I said regarding my positive view of your company and I would like people to know. There are so many companies offering the same kind of service, it’s hard to know who to trust and we had OE recommended by a friend and I would recommend to anyone without a second thought.

  • Now that I have scraped myself off the ceiling following the exciting news regarding my VISA grant I received on Friday, I just wanted to pass on my thanks for your part in making all of this possible. A number of years ago I had a phone consultation with another company (didn’t know about OE at the time) and came away disheartened as there thoughts on my success at this was far from favourable. Yet on conversation with Laurence he stated to me that I could get a visa without state sponsorship and it would take 7 months and that I should be wary of the IELTS test. If I have my dates correct it took about 9 months but would have been 7 were it not for the IELTS test! Again, your patience support and effort were greatly appreciated and I have passed on this experience to a number of friends who are also thinking of making the move and that they should use OE.
    – Graeme and family, Australia
  • Thank you so so much and everybody at OE for everything. We are over the moon! We are all in shock and there are tears! Thank you again.

  • They explained each process of the application and kept us up-to-date on what was happening at each stage; telling us when we needed to be doing things and in what order – they made the whole process very straight forward.
