Vetassess announces policy changes for plumbing assessments

Vetassess has announced a change in their assessment policy for plumbers, effective immediately. The overall process still involves an initial qualification & employment paperwork assessment, followed by a practical test. However, a new telephone interview stage has been added between the paperwork assessment and the practical test. Applicants will also have to submit a Personal Experience Summery (PES) form as part of their initial paperwork assessment (along with a Tradeset Report as before). It is likely that the PES will form the basis for the telephone interview. If the telephone interview is successful, applicants will be able to progress to their practical test as before. The practical test remains unchanged, involving a supervised task-based component, overseen by a trained plumbing assessor, and a written theory test. First Aid Requirements Plumbers have had to submit a valid First Aid Certificate as part of their plumbing assessment for a while now, but Vetassess have now clarified the required content, as follows: ‘All applicants must provide a certified copy of a current First Aid certificate (issued within the past three years), from a reputable organisation such as Red Cross and St John’s Ambulance. Any course completed must cover the following topics: •         CPR, injuries from head to toe, wounds and bleeding, burns, poisons, bites and stings, medical emergencies, chest pain, asthma, anaphylaxis, choking, shock, stroke, seizures, fainting and diabetes.’ Please contact us if you have any questions regarding the new assessment arrangements.
