Australia’s 457 visa programme hailed a success

The Australian Government has hailed the success of the 457 visa programme, which allows skilled workers to live and work in the country on a temporary basis. Michael Easson, chairman of the Ministerial Council on Skilled Migration, said that the programme has been vital in filling skills gaps. ‘Western Australia, which now has low unemployment and high labour force growth, is the second largest user of the 457 programme, which attests to the programme’s success’, Easson says.
