Nursing and Midwifery Assessments and Registration

by | Aug 13, 2014

Please note that APHRA – the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority – has recently reviewed assessment standards for nursing and midwifery registration. This effectively means that a positive skills assessment as a nurse or midwife under ANMAC (Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council) for migration purposes does not automatically mean registration as either a nurse or midwife in Australia. Under the General Skilled Migration Category, a “Letter of Determination” must be provided by ANMAC to support an application for migration, as determined by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIPB). However, this determination is not registration. The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) is responsible for registration and may not automatically be granted in the category of nursing and midwifery following this assessment regardless of the ANMAC determination. NMBA may have additional requirements and applicants who have been positively assessed by ANMAC must register with NMBA to be assessed for registration. Skills assessments will be held at ANMAC and can be delivered to NMBA by request for registration assessment. If any of our clients have questions regarding this, please get in touch with us. We suggest finding  Free Australian Visa Assessments if you are in the Healthcare profession. We recommend asking Australian Migration Agents. Skilled migration to Australia is on the rise and you may benefit from checking your chances of success.
