New Zealand rises in popularity stakes among Brits

by | Sep 5, 2012

Brits are leading the field when it comes to net migration to New Zealand, with new figures from Statistics New Zealand showing that 5,600 Brits emigrated to the country in June, way above any other nationality, with Chinese and Indian migrants following behind. The family-friendly approach and outdoors lifestyle of New Zealand appeal most to Brits faced with job losses at home. There are plenty of job opportunities for skilled migrants in New Zealand, and Immigration New Zealand has set up various visa programmes to attract skilled workers to the country, including the Silver Fern visa, which allows Brits to remain in the country for nine months while they look for work. Once work is secured, another visa can be issued for a two year duration while the holder applies for permanent residency.
